Anonymous asked: I'm a senior in high school and at this point I don't know what I want to do when I get out of high school. Do you suggest going right into a college not knowing what to major in or taking a couple of months/a year to explore?
Explore.
Hands down. If you don’t know what to do, find your niche. One of the biggest mistakes I see a lot of people make is to major in something as soon as they enter college (mostly because they think they’ll make so much money studying in that area). Sometimes it’s a good thing, but sometimes I see people changing their major later on because they hate it, resulting in a waste of time and money. My advice, for your first year you should take some pre req’s and several classes from different majors you’d be interested in.
For me, I jumped into computer science because I saw myself doing that. I do not regret it at all because it was something I passionate about and wanted to learn about. But when I was introduced to entrepreneurship, my whole philosophy of college changed. But that’s another story lol.
But yeah, since you don’t know what to do, just explore and find your niche. Find that area you jacked and excited about! Don’t compare yourself to others saying “oh, my friends already have set majors and I’m just wandering.” People have their own paces. Just explore any opportunities that you may come across.
Oh, and don’t go to college for the opportunity to get a “good paying job that’s in demand.” You could make a lot of money without having a college background. Trust me lol. Go to college for the opportunity to learn. Education is so much more valuable than money.
But yeah, that’s my advice! You don’t have to take it, but yeah haha. If you need any help, feel free to ask more! I’m always here to help.
